  1. In large pot, saute onion in butter until tender.
  2. Add all other ingredients.
  3. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes.

A simple & tasty soup. I didn't change anything about this recipe. Since I love cabbage, will proabaly make this again. Didn't add any ham - I will try that next time. A good lunchtime soup with a grilled cheese or tuna sandwich!

This was light and delicious! I scaled down to 1 serving, used garlic powder, and omitted the celery seeds and chicken boullion. I peppered this generously and used approximate herb and spice amounts. This made a lovely dinner with toasted wheat bread and fruit. Thanks!

Made with Polish sausage (sliced it up and fried it before adding) and omitted the celery seed (didn't have any). All in all, kinda "eh" in flavor. Maybe it'll be better tomorrow after having a chance to meld in the frig. If not, I'll stick with split pea or chicken soup.
