Smoked Gouda Cheese Grits

"Delicious side dish for breakfast or dinner. The Gouda gives a taste unlike other cheese grits I have had. Of course, cheddar or other cheese can be substituted. I got this from a lady in Louisiana."

  1. Great recipe! I first had smoked gouda grits at a restaurant. To copy the restaurant, I topped the grits with bacon, tomatoes and green onions! It was delicious and better than the restaurants. I should note that I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk (because that's what I had), I put in more grits because I like my grits thick, and I am not sure how much cheese I put in, it may have been more. It also cooked longer because I wanted to make sure it is done.

  2. Excellent! Had it with steak but probably would not mind for bfast too!

  3. I used low-fat broth, and fat-free milk to bring this dish to about 250 Calories. Still tastes delicious!

  4. These are some of the best grits I have ever had. I am from N. Carolina snd have been eating grits as long as I can remember. The night I made the recipe, all I wanted was the grits! Really can't say how good and easy this recipe is.
