Excellent! Better than my grandparent's soul food Mississipi/Alabama recipe for smothered cabbage!
I fried the bacon instead of using bacon bits and used the bacon grease instead of margarine. This is my non vegan meal for the weekend and was totally worth it. I also had to add a lot more salt and red pepper flakes.

I did the recipe ALMOST exact. Instead of adding the melted butter. I threw a butter stick in the pot (with the cabbage, onion and sausage) without being melted. Medium heat. Let it simmer for quite a while. I LOVED IT! I made cornbread biscuits to go with it. Yummilicious!
This is pretty good. Didn't have it with rice. Instead I used baked beans. Thanks for the recipe. Toni
